Finance Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detailoriented Finance & Bookkeeping Specialist with formal accounting education and a minimum of five years of bookkeeping experience. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Alberta Education funding systems including PUF, Mild Moderate, and EAL, as well as familiarity with the Early Learning and Child Care Regulation.

This role oversees day to day financial operations, supports budgeting and forecasting, prepares audit documentation, and ensures compliance with provincial funding and regulatory requirements. The position works closely with the Education Director and, when required, reports to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial bookkeeping including AP/AR, monthly reconciliations, quarterly reporting, and financial analysis
  • Manage accounting software such as QuickBooks
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely payments and collections
  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records
  • Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Prepare yearend financials and audit documentation; collaborate with external auditors
  • Ensure grant compliance for Alberta Education PUF and Mild Moderate services
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with funding guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with the Early Learning and Child Care Regulation
  • Prepare detailed financial reports for management review
  • Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
  • Manage and support WCB claims and reporting as required

Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience
  • Formal accounting education (Accounting diploma, degree, or equivalent training)
  • Expert-level Microsoft Office capabilities used to develop financial dashboards, executive reporting packages, and boardready presentations.
  • Expert-level with QuickBooks
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, AP/AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Understanding of Alberta Education funding (PUF, Mild Moderate, EAL)
  • Knowledge of Alberta’s Early Learning and Child Care Regulation
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments

Job Types: Full Time, Monday–Friday, 9:00–4:00
Salary: CA$70,000.00 – CA$90,000.00 per year
